Curtis was born a Filipina from Bolinao Pangasinan. Her father is an Australian Lawyer, James Ernest Curtis Smith. In 1982, her father married Ojales. The younger sister Jasmine was also an actor. Clare was a mother-in-law in the family of their father. She died at just four months old in the year 2007.
